Writing Your Strengths-- Presented by Jennifer Chauhan Self-improvement has traditionally been based on the idea that we need to overcome our weaknesses to be successful. But what if we have everything we need right now––that the key to increasing well-being is cultivating our strengths? Recent groundbreaking research in positive psychology shows that by reflecting on our strengths, we become more resilient and find more meaning in our lives. In this workshop, you identify your signature strengths using the VIA Character Strengths survey and then write reflective pieces to explore how you’ve used these strengths in your life and how you can apply them now and in the future. No writing experience necessary.

The Mindful Genogram: Looking at Racism Through the Lens of Implicit and Ancestral Bias-- Presented by Dr. Carol Penn Participants learn how to create a family tree that then allows them to safely explore the orgins, ideas and concepts of such topics: as race, implicit bias, micro & macro aggressions. Examining when, where, and how these behaviors first appeared in their lives and ulitimately how it shaped their responses to how they live, careers/employment, and interactions they have with others that are different from themselves.

Authentic Change/Authentic Work-- Presented by Pam Major DEI- bringing authentic change to the workplace and community-Diversity, equity, and inclusion has become a buzz phrase, but is it really important? This talk emphasizes the importance of cultural exploration and how embracing the differing cultural perspectives of employees and volunteers creates a rich experience for all. It also addresses fears associated with this kind of change.

Disrupting Generational and Rationalized Trauma: What you bring to the table matters-- Presented by Dr. Carol Penn Using Dr. Penn's approach to body awareness and trauma informed cultural awareness, Dr. penn encourages each participant to look at implicit bias thru the lens of their personal experiences. Participants will learn how to manage their stress responses (simpathetic activation) that can arise with exploration of implicit biases. Participants will analyze their interactions with patients or colleagues from different backgrounds and create a plan to learn more about at least 1 background outisde of their norm.
